This design came about when I needed a stool that I could sit on comfortably for many hours while chiselling dovetails at the workbench. These stools are light, enabling them to be easily moved with one hand as they should be, but very strong due to the appropriate use of traditional hand crafted joinery.
The rails are joined to the legs using pinned tenons. The footrests are held in place in the tapered, hand cut mortises by wooden wedges.
The shape and curve of the seat, and the wide footrests that are at two heights, ensure a very comfortable seating position.
This stool is available in two seat height options: 760mm for about 1000mm and higher kitchen island & bar counters, or 660mm for about 900mm high kitchen counters.
The seat to footrest distances are 400 & 500 mm for both of the stool seat heights.
